Amethyst Chevron Specimen 100grams
semi polished 2-4"
AKA: The Sobriety Stone
Follow the violet path inward. With pale lines crossing deep purple like mountains beneath a twilight sky, chevron amethyst brings a little natural geometry to your altar, desk, or collection. Every turn of the stone reveals another layer—and another place to pause.
Chevron amethyst is quartz with alternating purple amethyst and pale, often milky, quartz zones. As the crystal grew, changes in its growth conditions produced bands that follow its angled crystal faces. When the stone is cut across those zones, they appear as nested V shapes or zigzags. Both the purple and white portions are quartz, with a hardness of about 7 on the Mohs scale.
What sets chevron amethyst apart from a more evenly colored amethyst is its visible growth pattern. Each polished face can reveal a different arrangement of violet peaks and cloudy white bands. Compared with the rounded or irregular patterns of many agates, its geometry feels especially bold. The markings make chevron amethyst appealing in towers, palm stones, and carvings, where the cut can bring the natural pattern into view.
Chevron amethyst is found in several amethyst-producing regions, including Brazil, Zambia, India, Namibia, Morocco, and Madagascar. It is mined where quartz grew in alternating purple and pale zones that reveal the characteristic V-shaped pattern when the stone is cut.
Chevron amethyst is traditionally associated with calm, intuition, and clarity. Its purple and white V-shaped bands give it a sense of movement and direction, making it a fitting stone for meditation, reflection, or a quiet moment before a decision. In a metaphysical practice, the pattern can symbolize finding a path through uncertainty.
Some people see its repeating chevrons as a reminder that insight develops in layers. The stone is often placed on an altar or kept nearby while journaling, especially when someone wants to slow down and notice a pattern in their thoughts. These are symbolic associations, and each person can give the stone a meaning of their own.
Clean chevron amethyst with a soft cloth, lukewarm water, and a little mild soap, then rinse and dry it thoroughly. Its quartz is fairly resistant to scratches, but a hard knock can still chip an edge or point, so store it separately from other stones. Keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight, which may fade the purple color, and avoid harsh cleaners, ultrasonic cleaners, and sudden temperature changes.
