Aragonite Brown Banded Tumbled 1"-1.25"
Brown Banded Aragonite is a form of aragonite, a calcium carbonate mineral (CaCO₃) that is chemically identical to calcite but has a different crystal structure (orthorhombic rather than trigonal). It is known for its distinctive layered appearance, featuring alternating brown, cream, and white bands that form in visually striking, swirled or stacked patterns.
Color: Shades of brown, tan, beige, and white, often in concentric or flowing bands
Structure: Orthorhombic crystals, often forming in columnar, fibrous, or globular (botryoidal) shapes
Hardness: 3.5–4 on the Mohs scale (softer than quartz)
Luster: Vitreous to silky
Transparency: Opaque to slightly translucent in thin sections
Brown banded aragonite typically forms in caves, hot springs, or marine environments, where calcium-rich waters slowly deposit layers of aragonite over time. It is often found in:
Morocco (a major source of aragonite carvings)
Mexico
Austria
Grounding & Stability:
Often used to promote a deep connection to the Earth, especially during meditation
Believed to help people feel centered, stable, and better able to manage overwhelming emotions or responsibilities
Emotional Clearing:
Thought to dispel resentment, fear, and anger, gently shifting emotional energy into peace and understanding
Energy Regulation:
Some practitioners use it to rebalance overactive chakras, especially the root and sacral chakras
Believed to help with energy blockages in the body and improve the flow of chi or life force
Support for Sensitive People:
A favorite among those who feel energetically overwhelmed, as it’s believed to absorb environmental negativity and replace it with calm
Because aragonite is relatively soft and sensitive:
Avoid water soaking, which can cause damage or surface clouding over time
Clean with a dry cloth or very mildly damp soft cloth
Do not use acidic cleaners (even vinegar) — aragonite is calcium carbonate, so it will fizz or dissolve in acids
Store away from harder minerals to avoid scratches
