About the Author
Charles Holt is an actor, singer, and producer who has starred in some of the most celebrated productions in American theater history including Smokey Joe’s Café, Jesus Christ Superstar, and The Lion King. He was the first African American to play the role of Rocky in the European tour of The Rocky Horror Show. Charles received widespread recognition for his one-man stage production, notably his 20-character portrayal in Black Boy; The Smoke King; and Never Fight a Shark in Water. He and fellow actor Gerald C. Rivers chronicled the life of Martin Luther King, Jr., through their presentation Martin & Music. Charles has entertained sold-out audiences such as The John F. Kennedy Center, and has appeared on television and in films. On the music front, Charles’ debut album, I Am, garnered rave reviews and was followed by the new classic, Rushing Over Me. He tours colleges, universities, and spiritual centers around the world performing his Sole Music Concert Series: A Journey Through an African American Quilt of Song. Charles has addressed many groups and organizations including TEDx, Engaged Diversity Leadership Conference, and NCORE (National Conference on Race and Ethnicity). Intuitive Rebel is his first book. Charles lives in Los Angeles, California.
